기도의 동역자된 여러분에게 평안으로 인사 올립니다. 저희 가족은 12월 30일 이곳 선교지 에티오피아에 도착해서 정착을 하고 있습니다. 이곳은 여전히 변하지 않은 어둠침침한 아프리카의 전형 그대로입니다. 갑자기 변한 뜨거운 날씨와 기후로 지연이는 오자마자 바이러스성 목에 이상이 생겨 의사는 없고 현지 간호원으로부터 7일간의 약을 받아 복용후 다시 점검하자고 합니다. 아직 학교에 도 가지 못하고 저희가 임시로 기거하고 있는 게스트 하우스에서 치료를 받고 있습니다. 특 히 여러 가지 예방주사를 맞고 왔는데도 에티오피아의 어려운 환경으로 병이 깊어지지 않도 록 지연이의 건강을 위해 기도해주시길 바랍니다. 두 번째 집을 구하고 있으나 적당한 집을 찾지 못하고 있습니다. 외국인에 대한 비싼 임대 료(보통 1,000불)를 요구하고 있어 동분서주하고 있습니다. 저렴하고 사역에 필요한 집을 구 할 수 있도록 기도해주십시오. 세 번째, 아직 저희에게 교통수단이 해결되지 않아 집을 구하거나, 아이들을 학교에 보내거 나 사역을 시작하기에 한발짝도 움직일수 없는 많은 어려움이 있습니다. 차량이 속히 지원 되어 사역을 원활하게 시작할 수 있도록 기도해주십시오. 전기도 왔다갔다하며 모든 것이 불안정한 상황입니다. 에리트리아와의 전쟁으로 많은 외국 인들이 떠났으나 그렇게 큰 전쟁의 소용돌이는 없습니다.. 전쟁 중에도 다시 선교지로 들어 와 새 천년을 선교지에서 사역을 시작하게 하심에 감사드립니다. 계속해서 온 성도님과 기도의 동역자들께 중보기도를 부탁드리며 구체적인 하나님의 인도하 심을 위해 기도해주십시요.

Greetings, dear friends and family near and far. We greet you from Ethiopia! We smell and feel Ethiopia here since we arrived at Addis Ababa safely on the 30th of Dec. 1999. It took 20hrs from New York to Addis via Frankfurt. We praise that we got through all the customs and got our all the boxes and luggages without any losing. Jong kook's work permit was renewed as a church planter and we are waiting for getting a residence ID. At the moment we are staying at the guest house of the Head Quarter of SIM Ethiopia until we find a house to settle in Addis. Daesun(Jason-Tony) and Jeeyeon(Anna) have already started school from Jan. 3, Monday. They are welcomed by old friends and teachers here. Daesun is doing super ! He joined Taekwondo team and basketball team for matching other schools here. Jeeyeon had a little bit difficult to adjust to Ethiopia. She felt home sick to Connecticut, U.S. and had bad cold at the first day of our arrival, but now she is doing fine after she met her old friends waiting for her for a long time here. We met our fellow missionaries here and found that many had left from Ethiopia because of insecurity in Ethiopia. War between Ethiopia and Eritrea is still going on, but it's not serious in Addis at the moment. Please keep it in your prayers for peaceful resolution. Grace and I are searched for houses. After we settle, we have new phone number, but here E-mail situation is the worst. We are not sure when we can get our personal E-mail. The electricity of Addis is going and coming and telephone, too. While we settle, please use the address of SIM Ethiopia.
